ICE SPRINT X – SPORTS RECUMBENT TRIKE

The practical cousin to the VTX, the Sprint X is likely to be the fastest foldable trike available. The Sprint X is built to be the best sports touring trike. It is available with rigid or suspension frames, performance level components and accessories. The Sprint X is the ultimate sports road tourer or commuter.
The Sprint X extends the precision engineering and design of the standard Sprint X Tour range by utilising race-specification components. All trikes in the ICE Sprint X range are built on an optimised ICE frame featuring Compact Flat Twist Fold, No Brake Steer, and Rider Positioning System.
The sporty Sprint X shares the race wheel set with the VTX. The wheels are more aerodynamic, having a modern aero section profile, feature a 700c rear wheel and are tubeless ready as standard. The Sprint X features our easy access swept cruciform and improved handlebar clamping system with super secure indexed clamps ensuring easy alignment when unfolding and solid handlebar positioning. A wide range of accessories makes the Sprint X a very practical sporty trike.

SPRINT X CHARACTERISTICS
The Sprint X with its practical sports performance and laid-back comfort is a versatile and capable trike. Built for sports touring, carving bends, pushing speed, or even commuting.
With its sporty ride, agile handling, everyday folding practicality, comfort and lower height seating position, the Sprint X will guarantee you are ready for the road ahead. It features indirect steering for natural and intuitive handling from the first ride.
The seat angle can be easily adjusted to one of four positions. Available with a 700c rear wheel, in either: rigid, rear or full suspension models. This offers several levels of riding comfort to suit all budgets.
NATURAL HANDLING
Fitted with indirect steering for natural, intuitive handling from the first ride. As pace increases handling remains controlled, predictable and light, even when taking tight corners. The steering system dissipates vibrations and shock before they reach your hands to give a comfortable and safe feel, even at high speed.
ICE’s no brake steer geometry keeps braking forces independent of steering control, so the steering of the trike is not affected by braking at speed, uneven braking or cornering.
DURABLE ELEGANT OPTIMISED FRAMES
Our frames are designed to respond to the forces of the rider and road. Every element of the Sprint X frame has been engineered to complement the other, giving ICE trikes their famed riding characteristics.
Each frame is made from the finest aircraft-grade heat-treated 4130 Chromoly steel and 7005 T6 heat-treated aluminium. Chromoly steel is used in the centre frame cruciform section for the perfect combination of strength, fatigue resistance and vibration absorption. Aluminium is used in the rear frame and front boom because it is strong, lightweight and absorbs dynamic forces while ensuring maximum power transfer.
All frames are powder-coated for a beautiful durable showroom finish, whilst other components are anodised for durability.
700C RACE WHEEL SET
The Sprint X shares the race wheel set with its proven race winning sister trike the VTX. The black state-of-the-art, custom lightweight race wheels are lighter than the previous wheels. They are more aerodynamic in having a modern aero section profile. Tubeless-ready as standard, with a 700c rear wheel. Available in; reliable low maintenance drum or powerful lightweight disc brake options.
ICE AIR-PRO SEAT
The Sprint X is fitted with the ICE Air-Pro carbon fibre seat as standard. The seats are handmade from carbon fibre in-house by our master craftsmen and provide exceptional stiffness with minimal weight, weighing in at 1.1kg.
The Air-Pro shell is an anatomically contoured shape which is available in two sizes (medium & large). The shell supports the rider through aggressive cornering and provides a firm brace to pedal against while flexing where appropriate for comfort. Our Rider Positioning System allows you to tailor the trike to you. CFT FOLD
The Sprint X is a performance trike with the benefit of a fold. The ICE Compact Flat Twist fold is one of the many innovations that ICE has brought to the recumbent world. The fold is based around a lightweight heat-treated aluminium hinge on the main frame. This enables the trike to be folded for transporting in a car and for storing your trike.
Simply remove the seat, fold the handlebars flat, and undo the quick release lever to fold the frame. As the frame folds, the rear wheel pivots to fit flat between the front wheels. Fold your trike in under 30 seconds and it works with ICE accessories.
SWEPT DESIGN CRUCIFORM AND SECURE INDEXED HANDLEBAR CLAMPS
The Sprint X features our easy access swept cruciforms. Allowing you to get your feet further under you for a more stable entry and exit of the trike, this also creates improved heel clearance for smaller riders.
Featuring an improved handlebar clamping system with super secure indexed clamps to ensure the handlebars easily remain fixed in position at all times. Ideal for quick and easy repositioning of the handlebars after you fold and unfold the trike.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SPRINT X FOR YOU
RIGID AND SUSPENSION FRAMES
ICE trikes are available in rigid, rear and full suspension builds. Rigid trikes are light, have good power transfer, are less complex and are cheaper and are ideal for smooth trails and roads. Shown here on the Sprint X Tour.
Our suspension system uses elastomers to give you over 100mm of rear wheel travel and up to 40mm of front suspension travel. Rear Suspension is a tuneable, simple, robust, a single pivot suspension system giving you a smooth ride over rough terrain. Full Suspension reduces the vibration from rough road surfaces and takes the “edge” off larger impacts on the front wheels. Shown here on the Sprint X Tour and Adventure for illustration.
GEARING
The ICE Sprint X is available with three different gearing types. The Rohloff 14 Speed Hub which gives you a good gear range, the ability to change gear while not pedalling, low maintenance and it is very reliable. The Alfine 8 Hub gearing system has around the same gear range as a standard 9 speed derailieur. Derailleur gears are lighter, cheaper and more efficient than hub gears. They are also used by those who are looking to ride faster. They are available in different options, to suit the conditions you expect to ride your trike in.
SEATING
The Sprint X is available with the Air-Pro carbon fibre seat. It is handmade in-house by our master craftsmen. It is a lightweight form-fitting seat which is stiff and strong, providing excellent power transfer and making sure everything you put into the pedals makes it to the road. Available in two sizes, medium and large, to suit different riders. It is finished with a foam core fabric cover, tuned for maximum comfort while keeping the weight low and the feel of the seat sporty. A neck rest is included with all Air-Pro seats.
BRAKE OPTIONS
There are two main types of brakes available on the Sprint X trike; drum brakes and optional disc brakes. Both brake types will stop the trike well and have advantages and disadvantages. Drum brakes are reliable, low maintenance and aerodynamic, long lasting brake shoes can go tens of thousands of miles between replacement. They are also slightly smoother in operation. Disc brakes have more outright power than drum brakes and are lighter weight. The trade-off for this extra power and lower weight is more frequent maintenance and slightly worse aerodynamics. SINGLE HANDED CONTROLS OPTIONS
ICE Trikes as standard come with the braking and gearing controls fitted to both handlebars. Optional single-handed controls help riders who have limited use or no use of one hand or arm to ride. You can specify controls are fitted to either the left or right handlebars. This enables the trike to be safely controlled from either side. Shown here on the Adventure for illustration.
SHORT CRANKS OPTIONS
We also have short crank chainsets available for riders with shorter legs or with knee or hip issues. These are 152mm rather than the more standard 170mm. Short cranks reduce the size of the circle that your foot tracks through the pedal rotation and by doing this they reduce the range of angles that your knees and hips go through.
ON THE ROAD PACK AND WRIST REST OPTIONS
The Sprint X is available with optional comfort packs and accessories: The on the road pack includes all you need to get on the road: a Rear mudguard, Shimano XT SPD touring pedals, Mirror and ICE flag. Wrist rests are designed to comfortably and stylishly support the rider’s wrists while riding your trike. Ideal for long journeys and riders with limited grip or strength.
